The Batu Kikir parang is about 2 cm longer than the standard parang. This custom made knife has a sharper tip and is not straight at the spine but appears convex. Its handle is curvier hence provides a grip even without a rear quillon.
There is no separate blade flat as grind line is not visible.
Weight-wise, the new parang is lighter (yes!) than the old one by a negligible 20 grams, at a total of 400 grams.
When swing during test, I do not need to grip hard as the curvier handle locks on my hand and that prevents slipping automatically, quite unlike the old parang where I need to grip harder.
BTW, the old parang has been layered with Selley's Anti-Rust which provided some sort of anti-rust to some extent. But after some bushwhacking work, the layer got removed and rust set back on the blade.
